You will see that these dogs are different sizes.  This depends on the parents.  MOST commonly they are 10-15 pounds.  I also have pups that end up 5-8 pounds.  Usually the cross is between a regular 15 pound schnauzer with a toy or miniature poodle.  Thus, you get various offspring weights between 8-15 pounds.

I am often asked for a dog in the 20-30 pound range at maturity. To achieve this large size, one needs to cross a standard poodle with a larger size or standard schnauzer.  These larger dogs are uncommon and hard to find to cross.  The reason is simple.  The standard poodle breeders spend a great deal of effort and money on genetic testing. It is also necessary to x-ray for hip dysplasia. The standard poodle requires much more testing than the smaller varieties of the breed. These breeders tend to be purists and seldom out cross their dogs. Most families have busy lives and small back yards - or no back yard - so they need small to medium sized dogs that fit their life style.

Everyone wants to know, "What do Schnoodles look like as adults?"  Here are some photos that owners have sent to share with new time buyers.  As you can see, these pups have "full" lifestyles from fishing to hiking to jogging.  Many sit on soccer fields, others go boating and lets not forget the ones in golf carts!

Grandkids are always fun to look after, BUT even more so when they are Schnoodles! Recently, sisters from a previous breeding were dropped off for a few days. These girls are a great example of a "larger schnoodle" weighing 18 & 19 pounds.

It was hot and one afternoon I thought we should have some "cooling off fun". I put the sprinklers on and out we went to the front lawn. Up and down they raced. It was fun to watch them line up side by side and then turn and eyeball each other---next thing they were off again, racing down the lawn.

At the other end they would collide and tumble across the grass. Then back they would come.

I stood until I was dripping wet because I was in the sprinklers to take these photos! Finally we were all tired and ready to dry off. What a great day for all of us.
